This activity based course provides insight into the role of the tooth and its associated structures in
human health. Selected best practices that can be followed for maintenance of optimal oral
health and prevention of diseases will be discussed. The need for habit cessation in tobacco
users and warning signs that have relevance for early identification and treatment will be
emphasized. Common myths that harm oral health will be addressed.
The course will be a simple and effective guide for participants who are interested in pro-actively taking care of an
excellent set of teeth and the oral cavity, in order to ensure a lifetime of smiles. The course seeks to improve dental health literacy so that patients can participate in their clinical decision making and be better amenable to oral health promotion and treatment.
